Keira Patricia Leneghan

Keira Patricia Leneghan was born on August 15, 2006 in Cleveland, Ohio to her parents Sean and Margaret Leneghan. She has an older sister named Kaleigh, who works as a CVICU nurse, and a beloved dog named Bella.

 

Keira is a junior at Magnificat High School, in Rocky River, Ohio-the largest all-girls Catholic college preparatory high school in Ohio.  Magnificat’s school mission is to develop confident and compassionate young women who are called to learn, lead and serve.  Keira has been attending in-person classes since August, 2020. She currently has a 4.2 GPA. She is a member of the Varsity Gymnastics Team and is active in the school community as a member of the Ambassador and Photography Club.

Keira was born with lots of energy, destined to be a gymnast. Genetics were passed down to her from her mother, a former Division I gymnast at Bowling Green State University. From a young age, Keira’s babysitters were gymnasts who helped cultivate her talents. At the age of 5, Keira was enrolled in an introductory gymnastics class. Within a few months Keira was accepted into the JET/PET developmental program at Gymnastics World. Since then she has trained under the watchful eyes of Caroline and Jared Nun.

Keira Leneghan would be an incredible asset to any college gymnastics program. She is a very coachable athlete which can also be demonstrated by her fast pitch softball skills. Keira always brings her signature focus, tenacity, discipline and wit. All of these attributes are what make her a force to be reckoned with.

 

Academically, Keira is incredibly disciplined in how she approaches and conquers her school work efficiently while balancing athletics. Keira was recently named a NHSCA Academic All-American for her athletic and academic performance. Despite all of the demands on her time, she is also a voracious reader and enjoys playing the harp. In her church community, she serves mass and loves volunteering. Keira has an infectious smile, a wonderful sense of humor and an unbridled “Irish” wit.  She is incredibly honest regarding her abilities, strengths and weaknesses. Keira’s strong personality has allowed her to successfully take on leadership roles from a young age. She is adept at focusing on her goals and doing what needs to be done to achieve them, while always maintaining a positive attitude and light-hearted demeanor.

2023: Level 10 USA Gymnastics Regional Qualifier, WEWS Channel 5-Student Athlete of the Week, Ganley Ford West-Student Athlete of the Week, 

OHSAA: State Champion-Uneven Bars, 7th Place All-Around-State Qualifier All-Around, Balance Beam, Vault and Uneven Bars, All-Ohio Team Member

2022: Level 10 USA Gymnastics Regional Qualifier, WEWS Channel 5-Student Athlete of the Week, Ganley Ford West-Student Athlete of the Week, 

OHSAA: 9th Place-Uneven Bars, State Qualifier All-Around, Floor and Uneven Bars, All-Ohio Team Member

2021: USA Gymnastics Level 9 Floor State Champion, All-Around-Runner-Up, 3rd-Beam, 5th Vault and Uneven Bars-Regional Qualifier, Regional Runner-Up on Floor, 5th on Vault.

2021: OHSAA: 4th Place-Floor, State Qualifier All-Around, Floor and Beam, All-Ohio Team Member

2021: OHSAA: District Qualifier All-Around, Vault, Floor and Beam

2021/2022: OHSAA Catholic Cup All-Around Champion, Floor, Bars and Beam

2019: Level 8 Regional Qualifier

2016: Level 6 All-Around, Vault, Floor and Beam State Champion.

Keira is training upskills and preparing to compete her second season in Level 10. She trains 5 days/20 hours per week. Her aspirations include qualifying to the USA Gymnastics Level 10 Developmental Program National Championships. Keira’s long-term goal is to continue enjoying and performing the sport she loves for many years. She hopes to find the college that best matches her academic goals and allows her to continue performing as an active competitor as part of a supportive gymnastics team. She ultimately hopes to obtain a college gymnastics scholarship.​​​​
